Health Canada to honour personal licenses beyond March 31st… #injunction

In response to John Conroy‘s recent victory interim injunction over the MMPR, Health Canada has acknowledged that all Authorization to Possess, Personal Production and Designated Person Production licenses, which were valid as of March 21st, 2014, will remain in effect until the federal courts reach a final decision.

College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario opposes Health Canada’s proposed changes to Medical Marijuana program

In a recent letter from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario to the Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulatory Reform, the CPSO indicated that it has:

“significant concerns with Health Canada’s proposed changes to Marijuana Medical Access Program.  In summary, these are as follows:  concerns regarding Health Canada’s characterization of dried marijuana as a drug which must be prescribed, and the extent to which the provisions of the draft regulations will accord with expectations for safe prescribing and professional conduct; and concerns regarding potential negative implications the draft regulations will have for patients and physicians.”

Sensible BC says: Pot fight ‘difficult to justify’

Sensible B.C., a campaign to decriminalize cannabis in the province, says “too much of taxpayers’ cash is spent on chasing cannabis users… only about seven per cent of all police reports of marijuana possession result in convictions. And those convictions aren’t at the expense of the drug gangs – 91 per cent are simple cases of possession, sometimes as little as a pipe-bowl full.”

Drivers Stoned on Marijuana Test Their Driving Skills

CNN:  “In the following video, three drivers of varying ages got incredibly high on marijuana and test-drove cars around a course. A driving-ed instructor accompanied them to avert any chance of an accident, and police watched from the sidelines to spot any visible ‘signs’ of inebriation in their movements.”

Harper Government Announces Proposed New Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations

According to Health Canada, “The proposed new regulations will protect the health, safety and security of Canadians and their communities by eliminating the production of marihuana in homes.

The Government will no longer produce and distribute marihuana for medical purposes, opening up the market to companies which meet strict security requirements. Production will no longer take place in homes and municipal zoning laws will need to be respected, which will further enhance public safety.”

The new system is set to be implemented on March 31st 2014.
